Stephanie Ledger

Stephanie Ledger is a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance and an associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. She trained at the Canadian School of Ballet in Kelowna, B.C. Canada with Dr. Gweneth Lloyd and Mrs. Betty Farrally, founders of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company. She continued her training at the Royal Academy of Dance, Teachers’ Training College in London.

After graduating in 1972 with the Advanced Teaching Prize she took over a small ballet school and the Stephanie Ledger School of Dancing was established in St. Albans. To expand her teaching knowledge she worked as a freelance teacher in London and then as an Examiner for The Board of Children’s Examiners of the Royal Academy of Dancing from 1974 until 1983.

Since its small beginnings, the school has grown and flourished, concentrating on ballet classes for children from 3 years old upwards. Past pupils have gone on to study dance at the Royal Ballet School and other vocational schools, following career paths into teaching and performing.


Helen Brewer

Helen Brewer

Helen Brewer is a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. She trained at the Hammond School in Chester, before going on to perform professionally with Link Up Dance and Theatre Company in London. As well as teaching able bodied children and students, Mrs Brewer has a strong interest in special needs teaching. She has taught dance to visually impaired adults and children for the Royal Opera House Education Department, led a series of theatre workshops at Sadler’s Wells Theatre for hearing impaired children and since 1991 she has been teaching at the Royal Academy of Dance on their programme for children with special needs. Mrs Brewer has been teaching for the Stephanie Ledger School of Dancing since 1985.


Piano

As well as our teachers, we are very lucky to call upon a team of fantastic pianists who provide live music for all of our classes. This enables the students to develop their musicality and improvisation skills and is unrivalled by teaching to recorded music.
